TUSTIN HUMMER TO SEND CARAVAN OF NEARLY 100 HUMMER VEHICLES FILLED WITH TOYS TO THE ORANGE COUNTY RESCUE MISSION’S VILLAGE OF HOPE

• Tustin Hummer brings vehicle owners together to bring holiday cheer and toys to homeless and impoverished children in Orange County

Orange County, Calif., December 10, 2009 – Tustin Hummer is preparing to give an extraordinary gift of donated toys and holiday cheer to the Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope homeless facility in Tustin, Calif. this Saturday, December 12th.  The local Hummer dealership is bringing together a caravan of nearly 100 Hummer owners, each carrying a load of donated toys to be delivered to the Village of Hope. The toys will help thousands of local homeless and impoverished children served by the Orange County Rescue Mission enjoy a little holiday cheer.

"The Orange County Rescue Mission is thrilled to receive this generous and much needed donation from Tustin Hummer," said Jim Palmer, President of the Orange County Rescue Mission. "Due to the recession, the demand for assistance is at an all-time high. The holiday season is a particularly difficult time for families in crisis and these toys will go directly to help bring some holiday magic to the most vulnerable homeless population we serve, the children."

"Orange County-based Hummer owners are encouraged to participate by purchasing new, unwrapped toys to contribute and decorating their vehicles with Holiday accessories. Tustin Hummer will provide participants with a home-cooked breakfast before departing for the Village of Hope where the toys will be delivered to the children living at the facility while their parents work hard to rebuild their lives. The Orange County Rescue Mission will also distribute the toys to other needy children through the organization’s four other Orange County facilities."

"This is the fifth year that Tustin Hummer has organized the Toys for Tots caravan of generous Southern California Hummer owners," said Mark Parkinson, President of Tustin Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Hummer and Tustin Nissan. "This year we wanted to really have an impact on the local community by bringing holiday merriment to the children suffering in our county. We greatly support the work of the Orange County Rescue Mission and are pleased to bring together the thoughtful and caring Hummer owners in our family to share this holiday gift with those who are struggling during these difficult times."

The group will meet at Tustin Hummer (located at 1 Auto Center Drive in Tustin, Calif.) at 7:30 a.m. to register, line-up and enjoy breakfast before departing to the Village of Hope (One Hope Drive, Tustin, Calif.) at approximately 9:30 a.m. to deliver the toys to the children.

The Orange County Rescue Mission provides meals, healthcare, hygiene supplies, clothing and toys to families living in motels, cars and on the streets, in addition to those seeking a better life at the Mission’s four facilities throughout Orange County.
