When you think of GMC trucks, do you think of them as more luxurious than Chevy, or as a simple, baseline, work-truck line?

Well, GM would like us to think of GMC as higher-end, and has largely been successful at it. But before the latest marketing spin, I always thought of GMCs as more workhorses, and Chevy as the more mainstream brand. But with this whole "Professional Grade" campaign, it's clear GMC is aiming for a more upscale demographic.

Well, the first thing they could do is axe the Canyon, and replace it with a REAL truck that actually has some chassis fortitude and a REAL engine, like the Vortec 5300 or something.

so there HAS been a shift in the perception of GMC (according to how GM wants us to perceive GMC?)

The differences between Chevy and GMC have been narrowing, especially in the last few years. I don't take anything away from people that like GMC. Styling-wise, they're arguably the better-looking trucks. But under the skin, they're nearly identical.
