I'm shopping for a Dodge Ram 2500 Truck for towing a horse trailer and someone attempting to sell me their 2006 is telling me theirs is the best year because the engine is a 5.7, the last year Dodge put the smaller engine size in the truck - which saves considerably on gas mileage when towing. The 2006 years do seem to be more expensive than comparable newer models - but I want to make sure this is true - that a smaller engine is better (as I'm being told the bigger engine is being used ineffectively toward the exhaust and other systems mandated after 2007).
Any input? I don't want to pay MORE for an older truck - seems silly if this is incorrect.
