Ram 1500 Named 2011 AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star
* Ram 1500 celebrates second consecutive AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star award
* Ram 1500 remains most awarded Ram Truck ever
* Ram Truck continues its focus on customer demand with introduction of Outdoorsman and Laramie Longhorn models
December 15, 2010 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - AUTOMOBILE Magazine today named the Ram 1500 to its annual list of All-Stars. It marked the second consecutive year that the Ram 1500 was named to the list.
“Earning the AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star award -- one of the industry’s most prestigious – not once, but two years in a row communicates a very strong endorsement to truck buyers,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand and Lead Executive for U.S. Sales, Chrysler Group LLC. “Shoppers have a lot of things to consider when choosing their next truck. It’s reassuring for them to know the experts stand behind the Ram Truck.”
The magazine praised the Ram Truck for both its ruggedness and refinement.
“The Ram 1500 scored its second All-Star award in two years by combining a tough-truck soul with the creature comforts of a large family sedan,” the editors said. “The Ram’s cabin excels in attention to detail. Instruments are clearly marked, and the cup holders and storage locations are bountiful. Crew cabs have in-floor bins, and the handy RamBox option converts normally wasted bed-sidewall space into secure storage lockers.”
Both Ford and GM pickups were included in the AUTOMOBILE Magazine tests.
“We’ve had those years when every red-blooded AUTOMOBILE Magazine editor acts on behalf of his or her inner 12-year-old car fan and votes for 10 sports cars to represent a perfect All-Stars fleet,” said Jean Jennings, AUTOMOBILE Magazine President and Editor-in-Chief. “This wasn’t that year. Instead, after a single round of voting, we were looking at the most interesting, diverse All-Star winners we’ve seen in some time.”
Since its introduction in 2008 as an all-new 2009 model, the Ram 1500 has won dozens of major automotive awards, including many of the industry’s most significant honors such as Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Award (the highest Total Quality score of any truck in the 15-year history of the study) and the Texas Auto Writers Association Truck of Texas. It remains the most awarded Ram Truck ever.
In 2011, the Ram Truck brand continues to build on the Ram 1500. The Ram Laramie Longhorn edition and Ram Outdoorsman are the newest members of the Ram truck family and offer their own unique features.
The Ram Laramie Longhorn edition, the Ram lineup’s most well-appointed model is designed for the owner who needs a truck for work or play, but won’t settle for anything but the finest quality and refinement. Ram Laramie Longhorn edition models are prominently commemorated with distinctive Western-style interior and exterior badges. Ram Laramie Longhorn’s design cues are taken from traditionally handcrafted, time-tested wares, such as an antique pocket watch, a fine pair of hand-tooled leather cowboy boots, a collector’s-grade shotgun or a horseman’s saddle.
Ram Outdoorsman takes all of the features most useful to hunters, fishermen, campers and boaters, and packages them into one model. Outdoorsman combines convenience, off-road capability and trailer towing hardware in one package with a name that will resonate among its intended users. Standard trailer-towing upgrades, interior and exterior convenience, lighting enhancements, all-terrain tires and underbody protection are combined with a rugged exterior appearance to highlight the new Ram Outdoorsman.
