The problem with towing and weight numbers are this.  They are all advertising propaganda.

It was great that a standard for towing and weights was devised. (J2807)  Unfortunately, Toyota is the ONLY manufacturer to adopt the standard.  I read all the numbers from the big 3 with a grain of salt.

Their claims are basically advertising hype until they back them up with a real standard that applies the same rules to all of the players.
