The 2007 Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Kicks Off with Grand Prixmiere at Henry Ford Museum
Launch Event to Benefit The Henry Ford and the Belle Isle Conservancy
DEARBORN, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Motor City will be in overdrive this Labor Day weekend as Detroit welcomes the Grand Prix back to Belle Isle. And what’s a premiere event without a premiere party to launch it?
The Grand Prixmiere, the official kick-off party for the 2007 Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will be held at Henry Ford Museum on Thursday, August 30 at 6 p.m. Hosted by Deb and Dave Boyle, Sarah and Tony Earley, Cynthia and Edsel Ford and Kathy and Roger Penske, this inaugural event offers an exclusive opportunity to meet and mingle with Grand Prix drivers, team owners and top racing sponsors and dine from a delectable menu prepared by The Henry Ford’s renowned culinary team. The honorary chairs for this event include Governor Jennifer Granholm and First Gentleman Daniel Mulhern, Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis and First Lady Michelle Prince, Detroit Mayor Kwame and First Lady Carlita Kilpatrick and Dearborn Mayor John B. and First Lady Christina O’Reilly.
Mike King, Indy’s “Voice of the 500,” will interview top Indy Racing League and LeMans Series drivers during the dinner. Desserts and dancing to Van Hammel’s classic rock and roll repertoire will take place near Henry Ford Museum’s hot new exhibit, Rock Stars’ Cars & Guitars.

The Grand Prixmiere is sponsored by National City with additional support from Firestone, Masco, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Penske, Team Detroit, Bosch Diesel Systems, Chrysler, Delphi Foundation, DTE Energy, Ernst & Young, Ford Motor Company, and Lear Corporation.
Proceeds from this gala event will be shared equally, enabling the Belle Isle Conservancy to continue its work to restore and preserve the island, as well as providing the planning resources for a new racing exhibit in Henry Ford Museum.
