I have a 6.5 i just rebuilt, and i plan on replacing my 6.2 with it.  It is in a 71 chevy half ton right now.  When i swap them out Im going to put all of the mechanical stuff of the 6.2 on the 6.5.  I also am going to put a mechanical 6.5 pump on it.  But the major thing im going to do is put 3 turbos on it.  Im going to twin it with little air research turbos, put both of them into two separate after coolers then dump it into a big cummins holset turbo and block off the wastegates for all of them.  Im guessing that it is going to produce about 800 ft lbs of torque or so.  and get about 30 miles per gallon. What do you think?

Sounds great! Go for it, and post pics & info here of the buildup, and when you're done.  Smile

Sounds very ambitious and quite cool. ironically that is the concern i have. 6.5s have a nasty problem with cooling issues. having that much boost will be quite a handful for the internals. may wanna do some research into extra cooling capacity (water pump, rad etc) to make sure you dont cook this beast of an engine from the inside. Best of luck and keep us informed

Cheers

You're going to use head studs, yes?

800ft/lbs of torque should be easy to obtain, but that much boost is gonna lift one or both of the heads off that block.

Holy *** thats an awesome idea! I'm putting an Isuzu 4BG1T in my '96 S10. It is turbocharged. I am then going to put two turbos (cat back design) on the exhaust. lol. Then marine injectors and nice intake. Magnafolws too. It's honestly not gonna be driveable. Probably get 22 mpg. 7 sec 1/4 mile and probably about 2.7-2.9 0-60. Triple turbos own. lol

Its not a big problem and you can get it solved by yourself only. No problem just find a good answer on Google.

Well...it turns out that putting three turbos in a 71 chevy half ton without major mods to the firewall and such is pretty much impossible.  And until I can find an aftercooler that will fit in the space that my little half ton will allow, it doesn't have one.  And until I am able to make a stacked set up it, because three is litterally impossible with this style pickup, there is only one on it now. Just a little Garrett T4.  It will spool over 20 psi though.  And the new motor is a torque monster! It slips the two ton 12 inch clutch i put behind it.  Ooo

I had all three turbos and both aftercoolers, but when I had the motor out it turns out they actually didn't fit.  I was pretty bummed.
