Im sure this has been a topic on here many times but I just joined so please bear with me. . .  I am looking for input on the best exhaust and tuner upgrades for the 06 LBZ Duramax.  Dyno results would be great.  Im not looking for racing tunes or anything like that, my truck is a daily driver and a tow vehicle for my boat.  Im mainly looking for fuel savings too if that helps.

First thing you should do is get a PPE Standard tuner.  You can add up to 90hp on the stock trans without any issues.  Next would be a turbo-back exhaust with downpipe.  DiamondEye makes a complete kit in either aluminum, 409 or 304 Stainless steel.  Those two together will get you an honest 3-5mpg increase, give you lower EGT's and have a nice throaty sound!  If your interested, lemme know by either PM or email me at 4x4fantasy@gmail.com

mbrp makes a better exhaust for the duramax, ppe is good but there efi live and even edge.  
1997 f-250 7.3 powerstroke. just another old truck making big power hahaha
my lug nuts need more torque then what your honda makes

Thanks for the info.  It kind of confirms some of what I've been researching.  Especially the edge tuners.

MBRP may make a better exhaust, but the metal is all the same.  Also the MBRP downpipe sells for over $200 whereas with the DiamondEye its included in the price of the exhaust.  Compare both systems, and the DE is almost $100 cheaper.  Also, with EFILive, its a programming package.  Not a plug and play tuner.  EFILive takes a WHILE to master and learn.  Keep in mind no matter what route you choose, you WILL need a boost and pyro gauge.

I have definitley started looking at gauges for EGT and boost.  Actuallly thats what I liked about the Edge packages was that it came with a display module to show those readings, same with the banks six-gun with the PDA.  

I guess my only problem with those would be drilling into the manifold etc to place the probes. . .  I'm far from a mechanic and not sure if I even have the proper tools.

You can get the replacement driver side manifold from BD Diesel and its already tapped for the EGT probe.  Plus it will help with lower EGT temps and faster spool up on the turbo.

stay away from banks is all i can say better products out there that make better numbers, id still go with an mbrp exhaust first then afe intake, boost is fun to watch an all but MOST important gauge is pyro, ive always told others trans temp is the other gauge you want if your gonna do 2 gauges. i was like you when i first got mine scared to drill in the manifold cause i didnt wanna screw up. but thats easy compared to changing injectors on my truck.

The duramax trucks have a trans temp in their DIC already.  The most important gauge IS pyro, of course, but you need to watch boost also.  Overboost can kill a diesel in no time!  Yes other products make better numbers than Banks but Gale Banks guarantees that you will not smoke, you will stay emissions legal, and you dont need any other upgrades other than his kit.  Its safe, fun, enjoyable power!!  THAT is what you are paying for.

yeah his products are safe and dont smoke blah blah blah sorry but id rather have bigger numbers and my truck tuned right to where it only smokes under heavy load. so forget about banks and ats like i said afe intake mbrp exhaust and edge tuner and you will be fine.

2nd on the PPE, good mileage gains, and upgradable if you decide to go up in horsepower in the future.

I would have to say go with the Banks six-gun and pda. I have an '06 duramax crew and have had a superchips flashpaq, which I didn't like, then got the Banks six-gun and pda, intake and cat-back exhaust. I have heard good things about PPE but I felt more comfortable with Banks in my $40,000 truck if you know what I mean. My truck pulls harder than ever now and gets great mileage. I have a 8000# travel trailer that I pull over mountain passes at 70+mph with 1250 egt in 5th gear. Also empty, running 60-65mph I get 20-22 mpg.

banks sucks its over priced you can get better power numbers cheaper with edge, ppe, bully dog, mbrp, list goes on and on
