I hope this remains an isolated incident...

If not for the last minute passing of the country’s budget late last Friday, Washington, D.C.’s annual Cherry Blossom Parade wouldn’t have happened. The only upside to that dire scenario would have been that a 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel would not have gone up in flames as it tugged a float during the District’s biggest spring event.

Local news reports say that the new Durango was towing a parade float carrying a music band when black smoke poured out of its hood when it was near the corner of Constitution Avenue and 12th Street in Northwest D.C. (near the National Museum of American History). Firefighters detached the Durango from the float and moved bystanders away while they battled the fire. Spectators watching the parade got more than they bargained for, as we can see from the videos.

The Durango appears to have been used for publicity during the parade – likely by a local dealer.
