Transmission shift arm broken ( for third time now)

Ok, I am at a loss for words at the moment as the actual linkage arm on the transmission that is connected to the cable has just broke in half for the third time.  I have to take the whole thing out just to replace part and have to go to pick and pull to get another tranny to pull the part from.  I did this the first two times.  The third I had a guy prefabricate me a thicker and beefier arm and weld it to the rod that goes through the tranny.  I thought for sure I would never have that problem again.

Anyway, does anyone know why this keeps happening about every two years or has this happend to you?

Thanks for any help.  I am about to just junk the truck at this point.  It is a 95 mighty max with 130,000 miles on it.  My dad is original owner.
