ok so im doing a paper on the comparison and contrasts of the duramax 6.6 and the powerstroke 6.0 i would like to hear from both chevy and ford lovers i just need a little additional information and would love to hear what everyone thinks. im really more on the side of chevrolet mainly because of the allison transmission but i would like some feedback if possible thanks

Well, here are some of the main differences betw. the Duramax and 6.0 Powerstroke.

Dmax: Aluminum Heads
6.0 PS: Iron heads (although, the all-new 6.7 "Scorpion" power stroke has aluminum heads.

Dmax: Oversquare (bigger bore than stroke, unusual for diesels)
6.0 PS: Undersquare (longer stroke, smaller bore)

Dmax: Common rail injection
6.0 PS: HEUI (Hydro-Electric Unit Injection)injectors. This became a problem later on because these injectors weren't designed for multiple injections per combustion event, leading to many injector failures. Basically, the injectors were programmed to do multiple pulses to quiet down the diesel clatter, but went beyond the injector's duty cycle limitations.

Also, remember there have been four generations of the 6.6 Duramax (so far) with a fifth one just around the corner. The LB7 was the first-gen engine, LLY was second-gen, LBZ was third-gen, LMM fourth-gen, and LML is the fifth-gen which will come out on the 2011 models.

Hope this helps.
