Converting a 95 Suburban into a pickup! its a long story.

I live in Vietnam and I work in the film industry here, I'm considering building an insert car (a specialized vehicle that you put the camera and crew on to film vehicle traveling shots) anyway the vehicle has to be an automatic with a large petrol engine and a full chassis like a Chevy pickup or an F series truck which needs to have specialist rigging and airbag suspension fitted.
   Unfortunately there are very few American style pickup trucks here and there is 120% import duty on any vehicle you bring in so that's not really an option. All I've been able to find is a 95 Chevy Suburban, the plan would be to take the body off and replace it with a pickup cab (that I can bring in with no duty) the problem is I don't know what cab would fit as I'm not very familiar with these vehicles.
This all sounds a bit backward I know and surely there must be an easier way but so far I haven't found one.

I would appreciate any tips or advise on this dilemma.

As far as I know, the wheelbase on a Suburban is the same as a long-bed, regular cab truck. Do you know if it's a half-ton or 3/4 ton? So if you go with a standard cab and long bed, it should fit (in theory).

thanks for your reply it is a bit of a tricky mission that's for sure, I was thinking that the suburban looks the same as a silverado up to the B pillars so maybe I could do a cut and shut from behind those pillars,I only need a cab chassis as the back of the vehicle is all custom. What do you think?

It's probably doable. As long as you have someone that has some decent mechanical and welding/metalworking skills, you can probably make it work.
