How many miles have you driven? And has your fuel economy changed lately? I am assuming your check engine light came on.

Quick-clogging diesel particulate filters are seemingly common on the first year of the 6.7-liter Cummins. There are DPF-delete kits out there, but installing one depends on your needs and local emissions regulations.

The DPF is not on the maintence schedule for the truck and if I remember corectly it was designed to last until engine overhaul at 350k but that might be on the newer ones

Technically, removing the DPF is illegal, but unless you're in a state that has vehicle inspections or emissions testing, it's unlikely you'd get fined for it. I'm neither endorsing or condemning the practice, just giving you an FYI.

The main thing I've heard about DPFs is that you deliberately need to drive the vehicles hard and under load every now and then to fully clean them out. A lot of guys that just putter around town in them will clog them with particulates quickly. About once a month, you need to take it out & really stand on it. The heat from the EGTs will get the DPF up to its optimal operating temperature to "re-gen" and blow out the accumulated crud.

I baught my truck from the dealership about just over a year ago it was a lease return it had about 20 thousand miles on it(its a US truck that was brought up to canada). I've been driving it for probably about a year and I've put about 40 000 miles on it (city driving hwy driving and most of the time hauling construction goods to job sites no trailers tho). I just recently have a realy big service done and the did all the recall items on the truck there was about 6 recalls. 2 days later, after driving for about 45 min I pressed the throttle and instead of jumping up to 1500 to 2000 rpm to take off from the light it  went to 1200 rpm and it either went from 1st gear to 6th gear and bogged out or it turned on my exaust break and puffed a buncha black smoke out my exaust. i took it to the dealershit and the scanned it and changed my O2 sensor and gave it back to me. I took it home and it was fine. the next day I had 8 furnaces in the back and i was on the hwy hit the on ramp guneed it to get to speed  and it bogged out again. so i limped it to my delivery and then back to the dealer *** and there saying its my dpf and its plugged.
Now is it my dpf? if it is what are my options? I've read and heard multiple things about the dpf I wanna separate fact from fiction. Can it be cleaned instead of replaced(by pulling it out and backwards blowing an airline threw it and shop vaccing the catalyst). how could vehicle manufacturers think it was a good idea to put a 3-5000 dollar unit in the exhaust line? it wasnt 2 weeks ago i took my truck 2000 km on the hwy threw the mountains wouldnt the regen cycle have kicked in then?
mainly i just wanna know my options thanks for your help

If you've been unhappy with how your dealership has been treating you, I'd ask to speak with a zone rep about it. They have to give you that info. The zone rep can make a determination on it, and decide if it's eligible for warranty coverage, or in some cases, can authorize a trade for another vehicle. Sounds like it might be an electronics issue in your case. In terms of the "why" of putting the DPFs on trucks, the manufacturer's hands were kind of forced by the federal government and California for emissions compliance.

Yes, the DPFs can be cleaned, and their cleaning procedure depends on who manufactured the engine/emissions system. I would first check with a diesel mechanic to make sure there is absolutely nothing wrong with the DPF aside from soot and ash accumulation, because if the filter itself is shot it will need to be replaced.
