Measuring a truck's width

I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra double cab. The specs show the width at 79.3. I test drove a 2009 double cab Tundra and it was huge. However, the specs show the width at 79.9. It seemed so much bigger than my 2005 double cab.
Could some explain how they measure truck width, height, etc.?

Some width measurements include the rear view mirrors, while others don't. I'm not sure if the measurement of the '05 included them or not.
