Just say no to drunk driving!

:
A LaPorte County employee who tried his hand at monster truck driving in a county-owned pickup no longer works for the county.

LaPorte County Commission President Barb Huston would not disclose whether Bryan Batchelor was fired or quit.

"Let's just say he's no longer employed," Huston said today.

The outcome resulted from violation of policy for operating a county-owned vehicle after consuming alcohol, she said.

Police said Batchelor drove onto the dirt track at the county fairgrounds in his take-home county highway department truck after a monster truck event at the facility.

He was driving over the dirt mounds and at one point became stuck on top of one of the hills.

Police said Batchelor, 38, of Kingsbury was arrested for suspicion of operating while intoxicated and was accompanied by three adults who all were holding containers of beer.

Batchelor was a general foreman at the highway department.
