: Plans to build a new 4.5L Duramax light-duty turbodiesel for General Motors’ full-size pickups have been indefinitely suspended, according to Ward’s Automotive Reports. The advanced turbocharged V8 had been in the works for over three years and was scheduled to be offered as an option on 2010 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.

Disappointing. Diesel is much cheaper now too.

Yeah. It would be a shame if this engine was killed off altogether, as everything I've read about it, it's truly state-of-the-art. I have a feeling a lot of the projects and products put on hold leading up to GM's Chapter 11 filing might get put back in the pipeline once they emerge from bankruptcy. Let's hope.
