TRD 5.7L Supercharger Problems - TRD is keeping owners in the dark

This thread is just to drum up some public knowledge/discussion about a specific problem the TRD 5.7L supercharger has.  This supercharger kit is available for the 5.7L engines in Toyota and Lexus trucks and SUV's

In a poll of Tundra owners at tundrasolutions.com a significant percentage of owners with the TRD supercharger installed are having a very specific problem.  When the temperature outside is cooler than 55 degrees power is cut significantly above 4000 rpm.  Owners describe the experience as less power than without the supercharger, and requires them to let off the gas and let the rpm's come back down to regain full power.  It should be noted that this problem is experienced in any gear, with or without the traction control completely disabled.  

Owners and other members are speculating that the issue may be programming in the ECU designed to cut fuel/close throttle due in an attempt to reduce excessive power.  Many owners have tried contacting TRD about the issue with a few responding that TRD has supposedly acknowledged the problem and is working on a "re-flash".  That is all the information that TRD has made available at this time.  Recent attempts to contact TRD have resulted in responses to contact the dealership.  With a few responses denying the problem altogether.  Owners with the problem contacting the dealership are receiving responses that it is TRD's problem and they are "out of the loop" and do not have any additional information.

Since a TRD supercharged Tundra was tested by Motor Trend / Truck Trend, I feel this is a relevant issue for discussion on this forum and welcome any discussion and personal experience with the issue.  Furthermore, this is an attempt to increase public awareness about the issue and hope TRD notices and issues a public response.  In the meantime, prospective owners - including myself - are hanging on to the ~$5500 the supercharger costs until a fix is in place.

It's a real shame that TRD isn't being either upfront or honest on this issue. They should acknowledge it and fix it.  

Toyota and TRD have always had kind of a love-hate relationship. For many years, the U.S. division was starved of money by corporate. Toyota corp. basically told them they were on their own. Communication between the two companies was poor. It's only been recently that Toyota has given them more attention and resources.

But if Toyota is willing to install TRD components and accessories at the dealer and cover it with a warranty, they should stand behind the products and honor their commitments to owners.

UPDATE:

TRD/Toyota finally released the new ECU software that eliminates the cold weather boost cutout issue.  Reportedtly, from members at tundrasolutions.com, the new ECU software completely eliminated the issue while increasing available power and possibly improving shifting parameters also.  Additionally, the new software also allows more leniancy in the traction control "on" mode, pulling back throttle only when severe wheelspin is encountered.

No official word from TRD on the issue, but a fix is in place.
