So there has been a long debate over which truck is overall the best truck. The truck that's the toughest, strongest, overall best truck. So lets start the debate over who is the best. Who can stand up over the elements and is better than any other.
So who is it Ford, Dodge, Chevy, or Toyota?
I am a Chevy guy. IMO Chevy can't be beat and leads the pack. Thats all I'll say for now but I'll be back.

The best truck is the Ford SuperDuty crewcab. It could still use a sixth gear, a lower purchase price, lower maintenance cost (how much to service 7 radiators?), and adjustable front seat headrests. Then, so what? If you want the best you have to pay more for it as well as higher fuel and maintenance costs.

it really doesnt matter in this day and age which truck is the best.it all comes down to what you need it for.the superduty has a sixth gear but it is not advertised. it is just the way they have it set up. i will buy a ford anyday because it did what i needed and the only thing i had with it was egr problem

Does anyone else think the 2009 Dodge front end closely resembles the 2009 Ford Mustang Concept?

As for the debate: Ford all the way. Toughest around. GM is all plastic. Admittedly do not have much experience with Dodge. And you won't see a Toyota pulling a big John Deere (handle that tongue weight? I think not) or carrying around a commercial grade 9 foot plow.

I have a Silverado and my wife has a Ram. I have cab envy, but other then that, I wouldnt trade my Chevy for anything....
Speaking of the 09 Dodge front end, I was thinking they were making it look more like their car line... Take a look at a Dodge Charger and the 09 Ram together...

well my dad has owned a 05 silverado 1500, 2000 nissan frontier, and we now have 04 f150 and a f 250 between the silverado and the f 150, better acceleration goes to silverado BUT the minute you pull the f 150 shines now i have never seen a more durable truck then a nissan frontier never been to the shop as the fords, the silverado i liked it but it would sputter when pulling.

You may want to take the time and look at the 08 Dodge with the BlueTech Cummins. It's quiet, powerful and something to consider.
Think you should look at the 08 BlueTec Cuummins. It's quiet, powerful and often overlooked. Very surprised not seeing it in the Truck of the Year contest.

I would have bought diesel, but the price is excessive here in the U.S. for both the fuel and for the engine. Stations charge the same or more as premium even though diesel takes less refining. Dealerships charge upwards of $8K for a diesel engine over a gas engine. This cannot be due to the higher compression of the components either. It is due to greed that a diesel is saving the owner on fuel costs and dealers/manufacturers want to get back a chunk of that. I was offended by this. It is not that diesel is unpopular here in America. It is that manufacturers and gas stations want to shaft the public here for when people try to save fuel.
Diesel sales benefit manufacturers in other ways. They don't count towards their CAFE requirements the same way as gas-engined vehicles. You don't see EPA values listed on diesel trucks. With all this concern about global warming and the fact that other countries seem to have little trouble making diesel widely available, it would seem that this issue is ripe for an investigation to determine why diesel appears to be less affordable in this country than that of other nations. If there is collusion to keep the cost of diesel engines and their fuel costs artificially high, it seems that there should be fines against such companies.

I think it all comes down to what your looking for in a truck, I had a Dodge Ram, and now own a Nissan Titan. The main reason I bought the Titan was becasue I'm a big guy and the Titan had the most leg and head room of all the trucks and at the time had the best fun to drive factor which is important to me. I did have good luck with my Dodge never broke down even at 125K, I would deffinatley consider another one. the Titan is holding up well no visits to the dealer after 3yrs other then for front roter recall. The New Toyotas have great engine but ugly interior and no headroom. Ford makes the best built truck and great at towing but very sluggish. I've scene to many of my friends Chevies on tow trucks to consider.

While Trucktrend has named the Tunda TOY, I take exception to that for two reasons.
First, while the Ford Chevvy and Dodge will be out working, some day the Toyota will be in the garage getting an expensive cam belt change. Real trucks do not have a rubber band running the cam shafts.
Second, the Toyota has an old style open frame. The American truck have gone to a full boxed frame for several years now. Even my mid-sized Colorado has a strong full lengthed box frame.

I am a dodge man 4life. One thing i have to say is that every truck has its bads and it goods. Its just the one u grow attached too. Dodge, i like being comfortable; its fast as well. Horrible on gas though. Ford, quality and reliability which is why it sells. Bad on gas and doesn't have the looks. Chevy, great on gas. I never felt comfortable. Toyota, don't know yet but it seem like it picking on the RAM like it's a victim. 5.7 engine (ironic) and the looks are very similar. But it sounds like it has something good. Nissan, making a strong bid as well. All are very capable trucks. off-road, towing, hauling, and utility.

The seats are great and the truck is very comfortable. I can't wait to test drive the new 09. I want waste my time looking at anything else but the f-150.
