I have a new 2008 F-250 diesel with a 31 gallon fuel tank. My gauge reads empty and the computer says "0 miles to empty" after only 25 gallons used. Does anyone know... Am I about to run out of fuel, or do I still have 6 gallons available? I know tank capacity doesn't always equal available fuel (depending on where the fuel pump/output is in the tank), but a 6-gallon margin seems like too much. I obviously don't want to run out of fuel, but I'd like to know how many gallons I can really use before running out of gas. Thanks.

I ran my similar truck to empty (It was missing, but still running) and it took 26.5 gallons of oil to fill up. The zero to empty was on. I nearly had to walk. I wouldn't get below 25 gallons again. (crew cab SRD)
