GM fullsize hybrid SUVs to get advertising push

Why did GM find it necessary to offer a full-size hybrid SUV before a full-size hybrid truck? The fickle public may have overpaid for SUVs in earlier years and GM's marketing may have still had high hopes of satisfying those dollar signs in their eyes. GM would have been better off offering their full-size truck hybrid because it would have had much wider appeal. Businesses could write off the extra expense associated with hybrid technology. Given the current environment of high gas prices, they could have been cleaning up by selling to companies desperate to reduce gas expenses.

Maybe the want to appeal more to the average scorer mom, maybe the scorer mom market is bigger and they are more whiling to trade in their current SUVs and try to save the world more than the average working guy.
I do have to agree with you… why just the push for SUVs. Why don’t they push both and target a larger spectrum

GM is coming out with the Silverado Hybrid for '09. Regardless, I have to debate this strategy, since so much of the Prius' appeal stems from its unique styling. Unless something is instantly recognizable as a hybrid without having to resort to gratuitous badging and stickers all over it, I think it's going to be a dubious sales proposition. From what I've seen/heard, the GM Hybrid SUVs haven't exactly been burning up the sales charts.
