.. Or do you think their ending the wrong brand under their lineup?

I dont think HUMMMER should go, I love the HUMMER. GM needs to get rid of Buick and Pontiac IMO.

What do you think?

If Hummer sales are up, why would GM want to get rid of the?

:
GM says it's considering all options for Hummer, from a complete revamp of its lineup to a partial or complete sale of the brand.

If their looking to revamp GM, get rid of Buick and Pontiac.

I'd buy a Hummer before i ever buy a Buick.. eww

Looks like Hummer is on its way out for real now, GM is trying real hard to unload the brand. Pontiac's line looks pretty decent at the moment, and Buick has Tiger Woods?

if...and that's a big IF...GM just make the Hummer as it was intended to be, drop diesel engines in different sizes and config. that way, it MIGHT clean up it's image as a gas-hog into a real powerful, good mileaged, cleaner burning status symbol. i think (just an honest assessment only), environmentalists and concerned citizens will be more forgiving to a Hummer who rakes in 24/29 mpg. and they will feel that their fair share of gasoline is not being guzzled by a very large military truck who normally carries around a single homo sapien. that way, they will feel that the competitors of the Hummer are the truckers and HD pick-ups, not the ones who are driving Camrys, Accords etc.

Look the Hummer must have Diesel motor to improve fuel mileage and for safe highway driving it should have better visibility .If Gm wants to drop the Hummer line, then I hope Ford  or Chrysler would buy the Hummer and drop the price.--Note GM has drop the base price of 08 to under $27000.

My thoughts on Hummer is that it is skewed too much toward luxury and not so much toward utility. If Hummer is to survive as a brand, it needs something new and something competitive. I would suggest a Hummer that would be sized smaller than a Wrangler, but perhaps bigger than a 2-door Vitara used to be. The Hummer should be narrow enough and short enough to fit within most toyhauler trailers (12' or easily reducible to such). The Hummer should be able to disconnect its speedometer if towed similar to the Vitara. It should be offered with AWD and 4WD. This Hummer would also be offered as a part-time plug-in hybrid, but unlike other hybrids it would be an either/or hybrid. Just like shifting into 4wd low, the user could switch from electric-only to gas-only at any stop. This would cut down on development costs.

Honestly, I  think at this point, Hummer is damaged goods. I think GM should quit trying to actively shop them around. If someone comes to them inquiring about buying them, unload it, or at least the rights to the brand name. But by the looks of things, nobody has the money right now, not even (maybe especially not) the Chinese.
