recently i have been loseing oil in my 5.9 dodge ram..after trying to figure out why..about 1 quart every 1000 miles..no leaks no smoke..it turned out to be the plentum plate..i had a dodge mechanic say to me ,,dont hate the desighner...hate the engineer...lol...it seems that a aluminum plentum plate was used instead of a steel one, the heat transfer caused the sludge to collect under the plate gaskets due to separation every time the motor would get hot..steel to aluminum...in order to correct this i went to an auto parts store and ordered a steel plate..problem solved and i havent lost a drop of oil since..it seems that the oil was burning internaly that is why there was no visuael indication..so i played shade tree mechanic replaced the aluminum plate with a steel one and....SUCCESSSSSSSS !!!

Which auto parts store did you find the plate at? I have checked Autozone, O'reilly's and Advance and don't find that they carry a metal plate. I am currently replacing a 5.2L in a 1998 Ram 1500, due to plenum gasket failure causing engine failure. I want to replace the gaskets and plate on the replacement engine before I drop it in.
Thanks for any info on where I can get this plate.
