As per Stuart Schorr( Senior Manager of Sales), Chrysler is reporting that the sales of mini-vans are up 8% higher than last year!

Don't Write Off Minivans Posted Mar 5, 2008, 03:41 PM by Stuart Schorr As February sales results fade into the history books, here’s some industry insight you need to know. Chrysler's new minivans are a big hit!
“What?” you say. You’ve read that Chrysler minivan sales are down 18% year-to-date and consumers are moving away from minivans. But think twice before buying into the conventional wisdom. The truth reveals itself when you dig a little deeper.
1) 2008 total Chrysler U.S. Minivan Retail Sales February YTD: +8%, more than 1,000 MORE consumers walked through the doors of one of our dealerships and bought a minivan this year than last year. So consumers are buying more, not less minivans from us.
2) The new Chrysler Town & Country long wheel base model has increased at retail more than 75%
3) The new Dodge Grand Caravan (long wheel base by definition) has increased at retail more than 25%
4) The total reduction in Chrysler minivan sales is solely because of planned fleet reductions and not any consumer trend. In fact consumers are demanding more minivans.
It is still only February and we certainly face strong headwinds from the economy and new non-minivan competition. But our new Town & Country and Grand Caravan are well equipped for the fight and are bringing in more new buyers every day. Keep that in mind when March sales results roll around. If someone needs a minivan, they have to buy a minivan. Minivans have been scorned as mom-mobiles for a long time, but Chrysler has produced a really cool minivan. We can't all have cool VW camper vans anymore, but if you have to drive a minivan it should at least be a cool minivan. What they might add now might be a small fridge for the road or perhaps a weekender version.

Who cares much about Minivans? It's the moms right? There's no argument who got the strongest sales. Minivans are all the same, auto parts and styling are greatly alike. I only notice our minivan when my car runs out of gas!LOL
