Although you didn't mention if you have a manual or automatic, or whether its a 4x4 or 4x2, your particular truck could have a maximum tow rating anywhere between 3000 and 5800 pounds, which sounds like it should be able to handle a 2000-pound boat.
With that said, it's always a good idea to have hydraulic brakes on a boat trailer of that size. Depending on how you drive, how far you need to go, how much traffic there is, what the temperatures are, what kind of shape your cooling system and tires are in, and a whole bunch of other factors, it doesn't matter what the factory specs of your truck are, you may not be safe. Better to be extra safe, than a little bit sorry.
