When the Ridgeline debuted at the 2005 Detroit auto show, I stated in an editorial on another car site that I thought the then-new Honda Ridgeline to be the most significant new vehicle of the 2005 NAIAS. I then went on to say that it would influence future trucks—that is in terms of innovative engineering; not so much the styling, which admittedly leaves a lot to be desired. I still feel that way.
I also remember GM's Bob Lutz being equally bowled over by the Ridgeline at the 2005 NAIAS. He spent more than a fair amount of time checking it out and asking/complaining to his underlings as to why they don't have some thing like this.
Now there are rumors that Chevy may be considering a Ridgeline-like vehicle; sort of an Avalanche Mini-Me to better compete against the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, as well as the Ridgeline. I say great! Go for it! ...And if I were a betting man I'd say they might use the Acadia/Enclave/Outlook/Traverse platform as a starting point, and go from there.

It seems to me all the Ridgeline has that the Avalanche really lacks is that super-neato cooler sized space under the rear bed. And they could easily one-up Honda by making theirs heated or cooled. So who needs ice? That would rule!
