: Visitors to the Heritage Festival will have a chance to peek inside the operations of the Ford Motor *** Rouge Plant by checking out a traveling exhibit that will make a stop in Ypsilanti.
The Ford Rouge Factory Tour On Wheels will make a one-day stop Friday. The mobile unit travels in a 46-foot trailer that resembles a Ford F-150 truck and it features interactive displays. It's operated by The Henry Ford in Dearborn.
"We are thrilled to take our Ford Rouge Factory Tour to the public,'' says Patricia Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford in a statement. "With many interactive features, the mobile unit will offer an immersive experience and also provide a glimpse of the actual factory tour.''
The mobile tour includes a 17-foot robotic arm that will stand outside the unit and allow visitors to interact with it to create sound effects and simulate the sparks of an auto assembly operation. Once inside, visitors will be able to see an F-150 truck being built at the actual Rouge Plant through video displays.
The final activity is a booth allowing visitors to be photographed on a "green screen'' in front of their choice of three factory backdrops. Each participant will then be given a card with which they can upload their keepsake photo onto their personal computer.
