CHEVY-POWERED REV IT UP 2007 COMPETITION COMES DOWN TO THE WIRE AT FEDEX FIELD
2008 Corvette Prize To Be Awarded After Final Event This Weekend in D.C., Contestants Arriving From Throughout U.S. To Attend End-Of-Summer Extravaganza
DETROIT [August 9, 2007] – With only one more stop remaining in the Chevy-powered Rev It UpTM 2007 cross-country summer tour, the competition has come down to the August 10 and 11 event at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. New competitors will face off against previous Rev It UpTM 2007 event champions, such as Ryan Buetzer (San Francisco), G.J. Dixon (NY/NJ), as well as competitors from the five events held across the country since the beginning of July. Legendary autocrossers Mark “The Alien” Daddio and Mike “Superman” King will be present, and the “word is out” all over the U.S. for the one last chance at the crown of Chevy-powered Rev It UpTM 2007 National Champion and the 2008 Corvette grand prize.
So far more than 7000 amateur drivers have practiced and competed in specially-prepared Chevrolet Cobalts, trying to qualify for the exciting nightly Corvette Shootouts held “under the lights.” Qualifying finalists take to the challenging cone-lined asphalt course in 400-horsepower Corvettes to determine the winner of each local event. Each local champion receives a two-day school for two at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and a custom Corvette-inspired “Jake” guitar by Paul Reed Smith Guitars.
Christopher Ramey, Rev It UpTM 2007 Houston event champion, remains the current national competition points leader, with his score of 826 per the Chevy-powered Rev It UpTM 2007 scoring system. This weekend, every contestant, whether a serious autocrosser or a racing novice, that shows up to FedEx Field gets an equal shot at beating Ramey’s score and winning the 2008 Corvette.
“I had a great time at both the Chevy-powered Rev It UpTM 2007 events I attended, in Houston, where I established the high score, and at Raceway Park, where I tried, but couldn’t beat my first attempt,” said Ramey. “I know there’s a lot of fierce competition heading to the D.C. area this coming weekend, but I’m hoping that my score holds up and I win that 2008 Corvette!”
