But can you really blame VW? Although Michigan is working hard to shed its provincial, socialistic image, the fact of the matter is the United Auto Workers still holds considerable sway in the state. That being the case, it's almost a given that any new manufacturing facility there is a prime candidate for UAW organizing before even the first ceremonial shovel is stuck into the ground.
