Toyota Tundra Ranks No. 1 for Truck Incentives August 01, 2007
: Toyota_tundra_158 How high will Toyota go with incentives on its newly-launched Tundra pickup truck?
Edmunds.com’s Total Cost of Incentives analysis for July estimates the Toyota Tundra as having the highest incentives of all full-size pickup trucks.
Incentives on the Tundra have been edging higher and higher every month since the newest version was launched in February. Those incentives now appear to have reached an all-time high of $6,861 per vehicle, a 31-percent jump from the $5,242 in July 2006, the previous all-time high incentive on the Tundra, which was in its sell-down phase last summer.
Dodge isn’t far beyond the Tundra with the second-highest incentives among trucks. The TCI on the Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 is estimated at $6,739 per vehicle for July, which is actually down about $100 from June.
Nissan apparently went in the other direction. Edmunds.com's analysis shows Nissan pushed its incentives nearly $1,500 higher per truck on its Titan to $4,835.
Incentives on General Motors’ pickup trucks remain well below year-ago levels but edged higher from June to July. GM announced just last weekend it would match the Toyota Tundra’s zero percent/60 month financing incentives on its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
GM's truck incentives, however, are likely to climb as its truck sales dropped nearly 27 percent in July from a year ago. In reporting July sales, a GM official said GM would keep its incentives competitive, especially in important segments like pickup trucks.
