Land Rover has released a new V-8 twin-turbodiesel in the European market. While it only has 3.6 litres of displacement, the stats are staggering. For starters it has 272 horsepower and 472 pound feet of torque! Wow. While the 0-60 time of 8 seconds is not that impressive, the midrange acceleration numbers are epic. High Torque diesels like these usually do their strongest accelerating while in motion, say the 40-60 acceleration range. Like many truck fans, I have always enjoyed the massive torque afforded by diesels. And the new generation of diesels have mostly abolished the previous clatter, shake and smell issues. But I like the clatter and the smell of diesel in the morning... The sound of a clattering, noisy diesel is music to my ears. Especially like it at start up and under acceleration, even better when towing a heavy load. Heck I roll my windows down to hear it.
Yes Ford, please bring that Lion V6 turbodiesel over here. Many people are waiting for it and you will lose out on a HUGE market if you don't. The GM Duramax will still outgun you but please bring it over here!
