BFGoodrich Tires Captures its 12th Consecutive SCORE Baja Win on
One of the Toughest Courses in SCORE History
ENSENADA, Mexico – June 4, 2007– BFGoodrich Tires, the official tire sponsor for the SCORE Desert Racing Series, dominated Mexico’s Baja Peninsula last weekend earning eight of the overall top-ten finishing positions and 12 class wins at the 39th Annual SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico.
Facing a record of 492 starting entrants, BFGoodrich Tires drivers, Larry Ragland and Brian Collins, defended their SCORE Baja 500 overall four-wheel and trophy-truck crown at round three of the six-race SCORE Desert Racing Series. The pair battled through hundreds of miles of dust-filled desert to cross the line in nine hours, ten minutes, and 58 seconds at an average speed of 46.20 miles per hour. The team finished well ahead of competing trophy-truck driver Robby Gordon, who took second-place overall and SCORE trophy-truck finish three minutes, 57 seconds behind Ragland and Collins. Third-place overall went to SCORE trophy-truck points leader B.J. Baldwin.
Collins drove the first part of the race in their BFGoodrich Tires equipped Chevy Silverado before turning the wheel over to Ragland who battled through the final miles of the dust-filled, boulder-strewn course to the finish.
Arriving at the finish line on BFGoodrich Baja T/A®KR tires, “It was great race,” said Collins at the finish line as Ragland brought the truck across. “Anytime you get an overall win it’s a terrific day.”
The fourth overall team and fourth in the SCORE trophy-truck class was the BFGoodrich Tires duo of Mark Post and Rob MacCachren. The pair, who were tied for the points lead with B.J. Baldwin heading into the SCORE Baja 500 took full advantage of their BFGoodrich Baja T/A®KRT tires to push their Ford F-150 past several competitors for a top-five finish.
