You Can Help Build Justin's 1951 Ford F-100

I just heard about this story from super-stealthy auto spy Brenda Priddy and our good friends at iZoom.

Justin Lilly has a wish. He wants to restore and drive a 1951 Ford F-100 that's been in his family for over thirty years. But afflicted with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a chronic lung disorder that's left Justin with about 30% of the normal lung capacity of a teenager, he's getting some help from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and students at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Washtenaw CC is known for its 'Custom Cars and Concepts Program', one of a few high-end auto customization courses taught in the country. Vehicles that have come out of Watenshaw's garages have made it to SEMA and been featured on television shows, like the Learning Channel's "Rides". When WCC instructor Gary Sobbry heard about Justin's project, he knew he and his students could help.

Sobbry and company are doing more than just bringing this truck back to its original factory specs. They're taking it to a whole new level that couldn't have been dreamed of half a century ago.

With generous help and support from Ford Motor Company, the WCC team and Justin recently installed a new engine donated from a 2003 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra. The stonkin' 4.6-liter V8 has been modified with a Kenne-Bell supercharger to produce 630 flywheel horsepower, or, about 529 more horses than the truck's original straight-six.

But a project like this requires a significant budget to make all the custom mods come to life. And here's where you can help.

Justin and his friends at WCC and Make-A-Wish need $20,000 to complete his pickup. If you'd like to provide your support, you can send a tax-deductible donation to:

Make-A-Wish Foundation
c/o Gary Sobbry, Washtenaw Community College
4800 E. Huron River Dr.
Ann Arbor MI 48106

Larry Edsall at iZoom already sent in $100, and we're throwing another Franklin in the mail. So, now it's down to $19,800.

With your help, Justin's vision, and WCC's overhauling skills, we're sure when this truck is done it's going to take everyone's breath away.

If you'd like to follow the progress of this truck directly, check out Justin's blog.

If I wasn't such a poor college kid, I'd help the kid out. Got a great dream there Justin!
