Toyota’s ‘Tundra Prove It!’ tour came to Northern California’s Infineon Raceway last week for its largest stopover on the West Coast. Though, with over eight hundred invited guests, forty pickups, twenty-nine radio stations, five demo areas, two NASCAR drivers, and a cameo by Blink-182’s ex-drummer, it might just as well have been called Tundrapalooza.

A major component in the $100 million launch of the all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra, Tundra Prove It! is a 350-city traveling sales and marketing expo that allows potential Tundra buyers to get behind the wheel and try out the truck’s capabilities for themselves while also driving and comparing it against select competitive haulers.

Some Tundraphiles awoke as early as 4 a.m. to make the trek from Fresno and Monterey to Sonoma, California. Upon arrival these prospects were treated to bags of Tundra schwag and greeted by an impressive parking lot display of every wheelbase, cab, trim, and driveline configuration offered. Hourly clinics covered the truck from top to bottom and oriented new arrivals to what was available at the tour....

That's pretty gay but then again I was rather underwhelmed when I drove one. Not impressed.

Tour lets drivers discover truck in person, while 'proving' its top-of-the-line capabilities

MANHATTAN, Kan., June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Toyota is bringing its nationwide tour, "Tundra Prove It!" to 12th Annual Affiliated Foods Midwest Country Stampede at the Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, Kansas on June 21-24. Tundra Prove It! is designed to provide consumers with a firsthand opportunity to experience the all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra, while showcasing its powerful, rugged capabilities.

The tour debuted in February in Orlando, Fla. at the Bass Pro Shops and International Home Builders' show, and is traveling throughout the country visiting approximately 350 markets through 2007. This tour is giving attendees the opportunity to put Toyota's all-new Tundra through a number of real-world, interactive challenges, letting the truck prove that its capabilities, such as acceleration, payload capacity, towing capacity and braking, are all top-of-the-line. Driving courses that feature several real- life situations for the drivers to test out the Tundra include:

 -- A demonstration of the Tundra's automatic limited slip differential
 -- An "acceleration run" to demonstrate the speed of the 5.7-liter v8
    engine and six-speed automatic transmission
 -- A "braking zone" to demonstrate one of the best braking systems in its
    class, with and without load

"This program doesn't just put consumers behind the wheel, it lets them test the truck in the way they will really use it -- towing, payload capacity, braking -- you name it, you can test the Tundra's abilities on this tour."

Toyota has partnered with some of the best known brands in the industry to roll out the new Tundra. Bass Pro Shops, 84 Lumber and Tractor Supply Company have all joined forces with Toyota on Tundra Prove It! to reach the true audience for the all-new Tundra, "True Truckers." The 150-stop tour will visit a variety of locations and events across the country, including Daytona Speed Week, AMA Supercross events, 84 Lumber stores, Bass Pro Shops locations, and the Star of Texas Rodeo in Austin to name just a few.

Pretty said Toyota has to have events like this to get the public to even glance at thier products.  "Free stuff, i'm there!!"   Ever see domestics having Chevypalooza, Dodgepalooza, or Fordpalooza.  NO!!  People come to them to buy a quailty vehicle and not get "FREE STUFF" and see their fans.  I guess that what your paying for when you buy a Toyota,  sure isnt the engineering.
