With all the new "Crossover" vehicles coming out this year, Do you think they are quilified to be SUVs or should they be in a catagory all their own.

I have a friend with a toyota Matrix, Her insurace on that car is the same as if it was an SUV. The insurance company cliams it to my an SUV. But the car isnt near the size of a SUV.

What gives?

This is just my opinion so take this with a grain of salt...  When you hear the word 'crossover', it makes the buyer think that they are getting more than just a car.  They are getting a car-like vehicle with SUV fuctions...

Maybe it has something to do with the platform a car is built on...  I would have your friend double check that insuance info or switch companies.  I would never call the Matrix an SUV.

I just read an article where the Magnum was called an SUV...who knows anymore
